So, I've set a tentative date for the Aberdeen tournament. The date is late June ( I said tentative). I'm talking with some other local gamers and I've got some names to go and check and hopefully we will get enough people interested in coming down. I've also got sponsorship from the business I co-own, and we'll be able to get them to do the promotional stuff. So, I hope to hear from all you tabletop gaming fans soon, see you in June.
Sorry I haven't been able to do much on the site lately, things have been really busy around here, what with trying to hold down a job, run my business, and be a family man, I don't seem to have much time for my hobbies lately. I'm still working on getting our first article done. It will be a tutorial on my favorite painting technique on small character models. I'll be painting an undead Banshee from Warhammer. I'll try and get that up as soon as possible.
I just talked to the owner of Frontline Comic's here in Aberdeen, and he has agreed to host tournament locations if I can get enough people involved. He even told me he originally intended for people to play table top games, and even has a table set up for it already. So, once again, if anyone is interested in playing in a local tournament, leave a comment to this post.
I'm considering setting up a tournament for the LOTR strategy battle game, but I don't know enough people around here to really make it work. So, this short post is to send out a cry to the gaming masses. Will anyone challenge me? Send an e-mail to [email protected] and let me know if you are interested. Once we've gotten enough submissions, we'll arrange a location and time. I look forward to it.
So I went to Olympic Cards and Comics today and purchased my first piece in the esteemed Warhammer game. Its an Undead Banshee. I don't really know why I picked a banshee, she just looked cool I guess, but I do know I've always been partial to the undead. So I guess that will be the race that I play in Warhammer.
I do need to find a cheaper outlet for purchasing my pieces, though. Olympic Cards and Comics had three unit blister packs priced at a whopping $20.00 a pop, and the rulebook for the game was $75. That's a little steep, even for imports like the Games-Workshop stuff. I picked up the Undead Banshee, and some Mordor Orc Commanders for LOTRSBG, so that I can do articles for the site on how to paint miniatures. I'm looking to find a copy of the Warhammer rulebook, if anyone out there knows where I can get a copy for a little closer to $50. So, I learned just yesterday when I went to the Games Workshop website that the LOTR Strategy Battle game has actually been split in two. There is the Strategy battle game, for smaller scenarios and reenactments, and there is the War of the Ring game, for large scale battles and war reenactments. I've been buying the pieces from my local hobby shop for so long that I didn't hear the news. I guess I'll have to go back and find out more about it.
So, here it is. I've been meaning to do this for a while. You know, set up a sight devoted to one of my favorite hobbies. But I never really had the time or knew how to do it. But at last, my time has come! So, the intent of this website is to showcase the work of myself and fellow miniature gamers, to post useful articles about how to play and how to create the miniatures and boards, and to discuss rules and scenarios for gameplay. I'm hoping this will help some of you budding new enthusiast out there, and I'll probably grow just as much from my time spent here.
As the first order of business, I'll lay out what game I'm starting with. I know it isn't the most popular out there, but I got my start in the world of miniature gaming with the LOTR tabletop game. Ah, I remember it well. So, the first few articles on here will be discussing LOTR, and I'll work my way up to other games as my pocket book allows. (I will warn anyone trying to get involved in this, it can be a very expensive hobby. Most of my friends stick to one or two games at most, otherwise it gets ridiculous to pay for.) I also have plans to add Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 in the near future, and more games as my time permits. Anyone interested in helping out with the project, send me an e-mail at [email protected] and let me know, any help is greatly appreciated. |
